Overview
The volunteer buddy will provide short term support to individuals who have not left their home for some time and have lost confidence to go out.
About Erewash Voluntary Action
To meet individuals on a regular basis, normally weekly. To buddy an adult to and from a specific venue as agreed. Encourage and enable the individual to sustain their involvement with groups after this short-term role.
Support the individual to access local community/voluntary groups where they can participate in activities such as social groups, activity groups, shopping, or volunteering.
To ensure the safety of the individual, providing assurance and increasing their confidence, building a rapport with them and develop a supportive relationship.
Practical considerations:
No experience required, just bring your enthusiasm.
Current DBS (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure required and two character references.
Various skills required, which would be discussed at the interview.
Good communicator
No qualifications needed, just time and a caring manner.
