Overview

People are fascinated by the viaduct and want to hear more about its history and wildlife. We’re building a team of volunteer tour guides who can explain and promote our wonderful structure. Training will be given, but if you’d prefer to only support rather than lead the tours that would be very helpful. We’d like to write new tours based on your passions- wildlife, engineering, railway history and more.

About Bennerley Viaduct

Bennerley Viaduct are looking for volunteers!

At Bennerley Viaduct we are proud of our incredible volunteers who help with work days, tours, events and family activities. But we are expanding, and now have more ways to get involved. Would you like to try something new, meet lovely people and help your community?

The viaduct is a disused heritage railway bridge that has been reopened for walking and cycling. Based on the Nottinghamshire-Derbyshire border between Ilkeston and Awsworth. It also has natural habitats underneath, being expanded to promote the growth of its rare wildlife, plants, and insects. We also run outreach and education sessions in the local area. No experience is required, training will be provided, and we are flexible on time commitments. We are a small team and may have limited places available.
