Overview

Our trained volunteers give support to anyone affected by bereavement by speaking to them either in face to face sessions or by phone.

We see clients of all ages from 5 years from all cultures, sexuality and religious backgrounds, who are struggling with their loved one’s death. Many of our clients are desperate for support and if Cruse did not fulfil this role there is little other help out there.

Cruse volunteers operate over Derby city, South and East Derbyshire and East Staffordshire

Empathetic people who are good listeners and want to give a few hours a week to support people in need. The work is very worthwhile but it does require commitment and a willingness to train.

To be a cruse volunteer you have to complete our training which is over several saturdays. The training is recognised as being of a high standard. There is no charge for the initial training and after that all supervision, cpd and future courses (eg. to facilitate groups and work with under 16 year olds )are also free.
When you are qualified we pay all travelling expenses.
